Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. LUCKY TERRELL FLYING STORY SKY ATTACK BY CANFIELD COOK GROSSET DUNLAP 1942 DJ. From the flap of the dust jacket (notable because it is in very good condition despite its age), I quote: Readers who have thrilled to the daring exploits of Lucky Terrell, Texas fighter pilot with the R.A.F., will want to follow his further adventures as a Bomber Captain. I am very pleased to be able to offer a very nice copy of a vintage (1942) Grosset-Dunlap book, titled: Sky Attack A Lucky Terrell Flying Story, by Canfield Cook. This small hard cover book (5 ¼ x 7 ¾ inches, 215 pages) is bound in light green cloth boards with dark green titles and decorations on cover and spine. It is protected by a printed paper dust jacket featuring a dive bomber of the R.A.F. attacking a fleet of ships at sea. The endpapers are decorated with a flight battle scene as is the frontispiece. Condition: This book is in very good condition. When you see the photos, you will see that best of all, the dust jacket, which rarely comes through the years in good condition, is exactly that, with some minor edge wear, at the spine tips and a small tear at the upper rear corner. The hard covers are ever so slightly dust-dulled but still bright and very attractive with just an absolute minimum of wear at the corners and spine tips. Inside, there is a former owner s inked name on the half-title page but no other marks that I found. The interior pages are uniformly age-toned throughout albeit without effect on the legibility. Both hinges are fully intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.…

Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. No Jacket. Book number one in the series 'A Lucky Terrell Flying Story.' "Spitfire Pilot" by Canfield Cook is a memoir that recounts the author's experiences as a pilot during World War II. The book focuses on Cook's time serving in the Royal Air Force (RAF) and his role in flying the iconic Spitfire aircraft, which was crucial in defending Britain during the Battle of Britain. Cook provides a firsthand account of the dangers, adrenaline, and camaraderie involved in aerial combat, as well as the emotional toll it took on him and his fellow pilots. The memoir offers a glimpse into the daily life of a fighter pilot, from the thrill of flight to the constant threat of enemy fire. Cook also reflects on the broader context of the war, exploring themes of courage, sacrifice, and the complexities of war. Written with vivid detail and personal insight, "Spitfire Pilot" gives readers an intimate look at the life of a wartime aviator, highlighting the heroism and resilience required to survive in such a perilous environment. An aviator and author, Cook lived in US from early manhood and became a naturalized citizen in 1935. He served with the Royal Flying Corps. He also directed one highly successful short documentary film, "Wings Parade," in 1942. The making of that film is described in One Man's Documentary: A Memoir of the Early Years of the National Film Board by Graham McInnes.…
