Alphonse de Cailleux, peintre et directeur du musée du Louvre, lettre autographe signée à l'homme de lettres Louis Paris, expédiée du Louvre le 15 mars 1834, 1 double f., 1 p. + minute de la demande ayant occasionné cette lettre de Louis Paris, 1 f., 1 p. L'homme de lettres Louis Paris (1802-1887) demande à Alphonse de Cailleux, dans la minute de lettre qui accompagne la réponse du directeur du Louvre, l'autorisation de faire vendre sa "notice historique sur Jeanne Gray dont M. Delaroche a peint les derniers moments" en même temps que le livret du Musée distribué aux visiteurs du Musée . La réponse négative d'Alphonse de Cailleux est sans appel : "les règlements et l'usage s'opposant de la manière la plus formelle à ce qu'aucun ouvrage soit vendu avec le livret des productions des artistes vivants". Le tableau de Paul Delaroche (1797-1856), "Le Supplice de Jane Grey" fut achevé en 1833. Il est aujourd'hui exposé à la National Gallery de Londres. La toile représente les instants précédant l'exécution de Lady Jane Grey, placée ici au centre du tableau, héritière d'Édouard VI, proclamée reine d'Angleterre à l'âge de 16 ans au tout début de février 1554, destituée neuf jours après son couronnement. L'action figurée ici montre donc le moment où, le 12 février, elle est sur le point d'être décapitée à la tour de Londres sur ordre de Marie Tudor, également prétendante au trône. Jane est surnommée, du fait de la brièveté de son règne, la "reine de neuf jours". Elle fut suivie dans son supplice par son mari puis, onze jours plus tard, par son père. Signé par l'auteur.
