The year 2004 marks the 75th anniversary of Penland School of Crafts, a national center for craft education located in the North Carolina mountains. The occasion is celebrated with this book and a companion exhibition, both of which go far beyond the story of the school. The intent of the project is to penetrate the very nature of craft.
