Antiquarians may perhaps affect a note of scepticism on being told, albeit most convincingly, that the University owes its origin to a mesalliance in early Egypt, and classical scholars can hardly fail to wonder whether they have indeed overlooked a hitherto unsuspected source of poetic talent.
