Moreover, they know their cambridge. They deal with the famous sausage and eh Boat Race with the same misleading gravity as they examine the "lewd speech of the students" and the very real problem of reaching the railway station. Antiquarians may perhaps affect a note of scepticism on being told, albeit most convincingly, that the University owes its origin to a mesalliance in early Egypt, and classical scholars can hardly fail to wonder whether they have indeed overlooked a hitherto unsuspected source of poetic talent.
