He was also chosen Person of the Week on the ABC Peter Jennings Evening News program, and has received the Heartland Community Service Award from the State of Florida. An award-winning, black and white landscape photographer for over 30 years, Butcher captures on large-format film the transcendent, natural beauty of Florida's rapidly disapeparing landscape, particularly the Everglades and Big Cypress regions of Florida. He uses 8" x 10" and 12" x 20" view cameras, which enable him to achieve the elaborate detail and textures that distinguish the rapidly disappearing landscape of Florida. Through the medium of his exquisite photographs, conservation of Florida is an underlying goal and theme. He is dedicated to using his photography as an inspiration for others to work together to save nature's places of spiritual sanctuary for future generations. Clyde Butcher has been the subject of two award-winning documentaries, Visions of Florida and Big Cypress Preserve: The Jewel of the Everglades. His work has been featured in numerous solo exhibitions and is included in many prestigious corporate and private collections.
