Softcover. Condición: NF. Quarto. Softcover. Illustrated cover with full french flaps. 175 p. : ill. (chiefly col.) ; 31 cm. "To Say the Very Least is the first comprehensive publication on the print works and installations by Matthew Brannon. Everything takes place on the surface, or just under it in Brannon's work, just as eve…rything there is public or takes place in public. The prints exploit their generic relation to advertising and posters, but the benign appearance of the illustrations, reminiscent of 1950s cookbooks and cocktail manuals, is undercut by the fine imprint of letterpress texts, which teeter towards inappropriate confessions and unpardonable acts. These texts, with their hint of literary genres tinged by noir, are little melodramatic scenarios of success and failure, careerism and alcoholism, substance abuse and sexual misadventure. Each set of prints stages Brannon's principal question, "Why are people their own worst enemies?"--Jacket.

Couverture rigide. Condición: Comme neuf. Edition originale. Paris 2014. 1 Volume/1. -- Neuf / New -- .115 x 178 x 10 cm - 45.2 x 70 x 3.9 in. Painted wood, neons, original photographs, hand made pins, carpet, digital and silkscreened texts on paper.********************** Matthew Brannon boldly follows up with his "irresponsible…" biography on Laurence Harvey, playing with the famed actor's larger-than-life existence with Lobby Cards Display Cases for Laurence Harvey. Experience the intriguing visions of Laurence Harvey in a sumptuous display of the actor's most famed roles; revel within the intricacies of art imitating life (or vice versa) within a dedicated work that could have very well been devised by Harvey himself. One can consider Brannon's biography experimental, but here the artist wryly arranges the most honest moments of one man's career piecing together the reality of a life that could only be suited for the silver screen.

Undoubtedly, it is because one can find this work of art akin to a script suppressed by the Hollywood of yesterday, and here it is today far better served as an imaginary film wherein the hero is more or less familiar to us. Logically inscribed in Matthew Brannon's work, the artist presents us with an experimental biography, a veritable work of writing, montage of excerpts, witness accounts and interior monologues peppered with a few quotes by Derrida. See it for yourself: its large format, soft cover in delicately traced moiré fabric and illustrations silkscreened in four matte colors presented in a handcrafted shirt box, neatly tailored as if arriving straight from Savile Row.
