Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book captures insights and findings on puerperal septic infection discovered since the advent of Listerism. Drawing connections between systemic disorders and various skin conditions, the author offers a detailed survey of the causes, prevalence, and treatment of septic infection in childbed, tracing its evolution from pre -antiseptic times to the present day. Detailing statistics and offering clinical observations, this book highlights both the progress made in hospitals and the need for improvement in general practice. The author emphasises that while the overall mortality rate has decreased, a significant balance of preventable deaths still exists, largely due to overtreatment. The book delves into the causes of infection in general practice, exploring auto infection, external genital infection, and unclean contact as the primary sources of infection. It discredits the once -common belief that autogenous infection plays any considerable role in puerperal sepsis. The author stresses the importance of recognising the dangers of certain practices, such as the unnecessary use of the curette and douching, and advocates for a more cautious and considered approach. The book explores various treatment methods, including intravascular medication, blood washing, serum treatment, and neuclein, acknowledging both their potential benefits and limitations. Throughout, the author underscores the importance of aseptic techniques, meticulous hygiene, and a keen awareness of infection prevention measures. This book serves as a comprehensive resource for medical practitioners seeking to understand and combat puerperal septic infection, providing valuable insights and practical guidance for improving patient outcomes.
