A rare survival: a square-format, First Edition hardback from 1937 which, creates the novelty of illusion of movement (Patented), through a 'flicker' action, for four boxing techniques e.g. Left lead to chin; parrying left counter; bringing over right to jaw and lending left to the body. Six Chapters of accompanying text. Of its time, the book is aimed at boys and young men - not for fame and fortune but for playing the game for the game's sake and putting fair play and sportsmanship first. Quarto 10½'' x 8''. Contains 48 pages comprising 42 humorous full-page monochrome illustrations with comic text opposite. Large paper edition with hand written Number 47 which was limited to 50 copies. Very light foxing to the end papers, beyond which the paper is clean and fresh, a little sun fading to the boards and in Very Good condition, the author's rarest work by far. Member of the P.B.F.A. ILLUSTRATED (Picture Book).
