Añadir al carritoPaperback. Condición: new. Paperback. In 1892, US Fish Commission scientist Barton Warren Evermann was on assignment to South Dakota from Washington, DC. His charge: survey fisheries and locate a site for a federal hatchery. The foray took him to the Black Hills and springs of Ames Canyon that poured into Spearfish Creek. The site was ideal. By 1899, Spearfish National Fish Hatchery started raising trout for the Black Hills and points beyond, and its effects on fishing were profound. In time, the mission changed, and so did the hatchery's name. Today's D.C. Booth Historic National Fish Hatchery and Archives--named to honor the hatchery's first superintendent--is a treasure trove of information related to fisheries conservation. The facility's historic and commanding hatchery building is iconic in the community and a one-of-a-kind museum. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.

Añadir al carritoBooklet. Condición: Very good. Photographers include: Robert Booth, Reza, Michae Ilustrador. Format is approximately 7.125 inches by 5.25 inches. 16 pages plus covers. Nicely illustrated with colorful images. The National Geographic Society was founded in 1888 "to increase and diffuse geographic knowledge". It is governed by a board of trustees whose 21 members include distinguished educators, business executives, former government officials and conservationists. The organization sponsors and funds scientific research and exploration. National Geographic maintains a museum for the public in its Washington, D.C., headquarters. It has helped to sponsor popular traveling exhibits, such as the early 2010s King Tut exhibit featuring artifacts from the tomb of the young Egyptian Pharaoh. Its Education Foundation gives grants to education organizations and individuals to improve geography education. Its Committee for Research and Exploration has awarded more than 11,000 grants for scientific research and exploration. The Society's media arm is National Geographic Partners, a joint venture between The Walt Disney Company and the Society, which publishes a journal, National Geographic in English and nearly 40 local-language editions. It also publishes other magazines, books, school products, maps, and Web and film products in numerous languages and countries. National Geographic's various media properties reach more than 280 million people monthly. To help it meet the challenges of the future, the National Geographic Society has chartered The Glbert H. and Elsie Bell Grosvenor Council as a union of individuals who are both generous financial supporters of worldwide Society programs and active participants in its events and activities. Simply put, the Grosvenor Council is a place for a few individuals eager to dramatically contribute to the continuing success of National Geographic Society efforts. Financial support from council members will be used to underwrite programs and projects administered by the Society's prestigious Committee for Research and Exploration and the National Geographic Society Education Foundation--major expeditions, scientific research, conservation of natural resources, and classroom geography. The Grosvenor Council actually has three tiers, based on annual giving, membership in the Council, the Forum, and the Roundtable. The higher annual donations convey more benefits, such as participation in a unique domestic or international 'field experience'. Presumed First Edition, First printing thus.
