Añadir al carritoSoft cover. Condición: Good. Jan Bols Ilustrador. 1st Edition. This is "The Story of Wagner's Lohengrin" bu Angela Diller. The book was published in 1932 by G. Schirmer in New York. Note the stunning frontispiece art which reproduces a linocut by artist - Printmaker Jan Bols. The book is essentially a work designed for further appreciation of "Lohengrin" by music students; thus there is a considerable amount of printed music. Angela Diller discusses each musical theme (or motive - there are 21 motives from the opera examined in this book .) As well as that Diller has added four easy piano transcriptions by Wagner to further enlarge the students understanding. The frontispiece is a remarkable picture of Lohengrin (the Swan Knight) majestically standing with his sword in a giant scallop shell which is being towed by a white swan. King Ludwig of Bavaria named his amazingly fanciful castle, 'Neuschwanstein' , after the Swan Knight, Lohengrin, and everybody knows the bridal chorus of this opera . "Here Comes the Bride". On the front cover there is an old stamp from a long defunct school (actually the original school was split up into separate parts). This old stamp, contemporary with the book, is not very legible. There are no other marks of ownership. I have personally verified the deaccessioned status with the village library.
