First edition. 16pp. with illustrations. This paper deals with the design and construction of a trunnion bascule road bridge and approach viaducts over the River Suir at Waterford, Ireland. The bridge replaced a 70 year old rolling lift bridge at the same site. Construction was completed and opened to traffic on 3rd of November 1986. The paper is in 2 parts. The first part starts with an account of the previous bridge crossings at the site, continuing with the background to the project, the design and site investigation. The second part deals with the construction of the new bridge including demolition of the existing structure.
