Deux mentions manuscrites de l'époque sur la carte : "adopté" Rare carte routière de Falaise et ses environs, à la légende calligraphiée par la femme du graveur. Rare carte routière de Falaise et ses environs, à la La carte fut gravée par la graveur parisien Alexandre Jean Nicolas Blondeau (1771-1832), qui allait être nommé, en 1816, graveur du roi et premier graveur du Dépôt de la Guerre. La carte précise également que la lettre est due à son épouse : "écrit par M[a]dam[e] Blondeau". Alexandre Blondeau et Marie Jeanne Bellanger s'était mariés en 1793. Il existe une version postérieure de la carte, enrichie d'une illustration du château de la Frenaye près de Falaise gravée dans l'angle supérieur gauche, et dont le texte de la légende accompagnant celle du donjon de Falaise dans l'angle inférieur droit est différent. Dans cette version, le dessinateur est désigné sous le nom de "B[ar]on de la Fresnaye" alors que sur notre carte, il est designé comme "A. Lafrenaye". Ce détail permet de la dater d'avant 1811, année d'accession de Noël Urbain André de La Frenaye (1729-1818) au titre de baron d'Empire. Son ancêtre Isaac André, riche commerçant de la foire de Guibray, racheta le château de la Frenaye à la fin du XVIIe siècle. Le lien avec la foire de Guibray apparait sur la carte, qui montre, outre "les grandes routes aux environs de Falaize et Guibray", les "différents projets pour les finir et les rendre utiles au commerce de la foire de Guibray." La foire de Guibray, du nom d'un faubourg de Falaise dans le Calvados, fut l'une des plus anciennes et des plus importantes foires commerciales de France du XIe siècle jusqu'à la fin du XIXe siècle, quand elle fut réduite à une foire aux bestiaux avant de tomber en deshérence. Aucun exemplaire de notre version conservé au CCFr, qui recense 3 exemplaires de 2 versions postérieures (BnF, Caen et aux Archives du Calvados).…
