Añadir al carritoCondición: Very Good. 4 leaves stapled at corner with "History of the Hawthorne Social Club of Sewickley. Oct. 21, 1924" photocopied on one side of each leaf. 19 cm. Also a carbon copy on three pages titled "Hawthorne Club" which is also a history of the club and probably written in 1975 or 1976. 29 cm. Inked information on back of both photos. One photo of 32 unidentiified women (our count) is identified on back as "PA Fed / Negro Women's Clubs Past President's meeting at home of Susan Blockson (holding banner). Circa 1940s, 50s, (not sure.)." Photographer's stamp on back: W. A. Johnston, Jr. Photographer . Sewickley. Approx. 25 x 20 cm. The other photo of 17 women is identified on back as "Hawthorne Club -- Circa 1962 or 1965." No identification of photographer but the 17 women are identified by name. Approx. 24 x 19 cm. We suspect the the earlier history may have been drafted by Martha Blockson because it contains a joke about her weight gain. The later draft seems likely to have been written or co-authored by Susan Blockson who is listed as one of two contact references. The third page of later history contains information identiying the indivisuals in a photo which is not presenbt in this group of material. Sewickley is modest-sized town along the Ohio River about twenty miles northwest of Pittsburg. The current population is about 4000 of which about 7% are identified as African American.
