The blue cloth boards are in good condition (two lightly bumped corners, bumped spine with tiny spot, several spots on back cover). 7 ¾ x 5 ½, 51 pages, 7 ounces XX The date of publication is important: 1941. This book of poetry about campus life came out as World War II was already raging, but not until December would the US enter the war on both fronts (European and Japanese). So, these fairly humorous poems on college campus life describe a way of life that won't really exist for the following four years of war. Ms. Bliss's dedication shows that she was well aware of the storm clouds gathering: To the youth of the nation, (God bless 'em!), Too often we think them nefarious! Let them dance; let them jive While they're glad they're alive—For their future looks rather precarious! Half of the poems are written from the male point-of-view (Co-Eddy) and half from the female point-of-view (Co-Ed), alternating from page to page. An example of the latter: LOST FAITH: It isn't that I mind The loss of you So much; You were not true. It isn't that I mind The loneliness So much; Sweet memories come thru. It isn't that I mind The gilded lies You told; I believed them then; But something lost I never more Can hold: My faith in men! Co-Eddy responds with his own complaint, NOT KISSPROOF: Scarlet dress Scarlet lips Ultra scarlet Finger tips. Riding, parking, Necking scholar, White shirt Scarlet collar. [The titles of the poems give an idea of the range of topics relayed in poetic form] Proposal, Quest, My Error, Glamour, Love Finals, What It Takes, Three Little Worries, Risqué, Allergy, Invitation, Third Degree, Alone, Confession, You Asked for It, Diagnosis, Jealous (?), Declarative Sentence, Surprise, Resolution, Bad Boy, Broke Again, Amscray, My Luck, Who Cares, Money, Ultra-Ardent, Sin Cronies, Scat, Co-Eddy Calculations, Hide, Sister, Hide, Definition, Facsimile, Small Voice Within, One Little Cocktail, Wrong Number, New Car, Decision, Love's Lesson, Hi Cost of woo-woo, Red Hot, (G) Listen, That Certain Age, Modern Evolution, College Heel, That Gal 0' Mine, To A Co-Ed, Co-Eddy, Beware, Lost Faith, Not Kissproof, To A Pal, Conclusion.…
