De Blaas asks what he should write to the manufacturer and where the garment should now be sent. The letter originally enclosed a notice from his brother concerning the failed delivery: - "[.] Ora mio fratello da Vienna mi spedisce il qui incluso avviso, che indica che il cappotto è stato rimandato a Vienna alla firma Rothlerger, che è il fabbricante [.]. Vi prego di scrivermi subito, che cosa debbo scrivere, a Rothlerger, e dove il detto mantello deve essere spedito [.]". - The episode reflects de Blaas's ongoing familial connections to Vienna: the son of the Austrian painter Carl von Blaas, he was trained in Rome and in Venice, where he eventually settled and acquired Italian citizenship. There, he produced his most famous paintings, such as "La tombola in campiello", "La casa del divertimento", "Al balcone", "Scena galante", and "Nozze a Murano" (cf. Cristante, see below). - On stationery in a rapid, fluent hand. The final leaf contains several doodles and illegible jottings. - An old tear, professionally restored. Paper slightly browned. - C. D.
