Binning, the Head of the Dept. of Fine Arts at UBC, Sakamoto is a " bishop" of the Kiyoshikojin Seichoji Temple and a collector of the paintings of Tomioka Tessai. This is a book published in a limited edition in conjunction with an exhibition of 50 pieces of Sakamoto's calligraphic paintings of Buddhist themes mounted in Vancouver in September of 1966. About 54 plates of beautiful calligraphic works with 7 tipped-in plates in red and gold and gold on black. Text in Japanese with prefaces and contents in English. Fine in Near Fine frail glassine dustjacket with 1/2" tear and crease to front lower edge in card slipcase in Very Good condition. A handsome book.
