The usefulness of this oratorio has grown from year to year, for it has been performed innumerable times from coast to coast in this country in a variety of ways, first as an oratorio, second, as an operetta with costumes and scenery. A few years ago, it was presented as a 'Maccabean Pageant' in Los Angeles, with interspersed spoken dialogue. It has also been done in Hebrew.
