Añadir al carritoCondición: Sehr gut. Zustand: Sehr gut | Seiten: 548 | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | Aquatic systems play a salient role in the complex processes of energy and matter exchange between the geosphere and the atmosphere. For example, reactions taking place in cloud water droplets can substantially alter the atmospheric budget and chemistry of trace gases; pollution induced weathering reactions at water/soil interfaces can affect the availability of nutrients and increase the concentration of potentially toxic metals in groundwaters. Moreover, the inextricable links between the water cycle, the geosphere and the atmosphere ensure that apparently localized environmental problems have increasingly impacts in other parts of the world. To identify local-to-global scale variables associated with environmental changes, a focus must be placed on the recognition of processes, rather than a continued reliance on monitoring state variables. However, in heterogeneous aquatic systems, small scale aspects of a process under observation may not be summed directly to obtain regional estimates because of process nonlinearities with change in scale. To understand this, the integrated use of measurements across a range of scales is required.

Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Very Good. No Jacket. First Edition. "Chemistry of Aquatic Systems: Local and Global Perspectives" as Volume 5 of the series Eurocourses: Chemical and Environmental Science presents a rare hardcover First Edition published in 1994 by Kluwer, edited by Giovanni Bidoglio and Werner Stumm. This edition is in Near Fine/VG+ condition, making it a valuable addition to any collection. The covers of the book are excellently preserved, showcasing sharp square corners and firm spine ends. However, there is a former owner's bookplate fixed to the front pastedown, which can be removed upon request, leaving only a minor abrasion. Additionally, there is a small abrasion present on the front flyleaf. Despite these minor imperfections, the binding remains square and tight, ensuring the structural integrity of the book. The interior pages are clean and unmarked, providing a pristine reading experience. The book delves into the significant role that aquatic systems play in the complex processes of energy and matter exchange between the geosphere and the atmosphere. From reactions in cloud water droplets to pollution-induced weathering reactions at water/soil interfaces, the book explores various phenomena impacting environmental changes. The text emphasizes the importance of focusing on processes rather than solely monitoring state variables to identify local-to-global scale variables associated with environmental changes. For shipment, the book will be meticulously packaged to safeguard it from the elements. Additionally, a USPS electronic tracking number will be provided free of charge for added convenience and peace of mind. Should you require further information or additional pictures of the book, please feel free to contact us.

Añadir al carritoTaschenbuch. Condición: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Aquatic systems play a salient role in the complex processes of energy and matter exchange between the geosphere and the atmosphere. Furthermore, the inextricable links between the water cycle, the geosphere and the atmosphere ensure that apparently localized environmental problems are increasingly seen to have impacts in other parts of the world. In order to identify local-to-global scale variables associated with environmental changes, one must concentrate on the recognition of processes, rather than placing a continued reliance on the monitoring of state variables. But in heterogeneous aquatic systems, small-scale aspects of a process under observation may not be summed directly to obtain regional estimates. The objectives of the Chemistry of Aquatic Systems: Local and Global Perspectives are:to illustrate how land, water and atmosphere are coupled by hydrogeochemical cycles and how these cycles affect the chemistry of natural waters; to strengthen our understanding of the cycling of nutrients, metals and organic carbon in marine and lacustrine systems; to give an account of current research and water technological applications of the processes occurring at the solid--water interface; to illustrate how pollutants are transformed, degraded and transported, and how to link processes occurring at different spatial and temporal scales. This is a tutorial book, written in such a way that the general principles are understood before progressing on to theoretical models, laboratory systems and real-world processes. For geochemists, water and soil scientists, environmental engineers, and students of these disciplines.
