No Jacket. 1st ed. viii+336+(4, pub.list), top edge blue; Viennese bookseller's small blue label top front pastedown, George Frey's 1944-dated etched bookplate centre same, open gutter before t.p. now closed with white repair tape which is reasonably acceptable, otherwise internally clean, tight and unmarked; coversunworn bar slight routine corner bumping, front and spine clean but back marred by scattering of 2 dozen or so very tiny white flecks (most removeable with patience and a finely pointed knife), lettering a little dull. Issued as Band 2 in the Handbuch der Erbkrankheiten series ed. by Arthur Gutt of Potsdam whose 2 pp. 'Vorwort' dated March 1940 follows t.p., 4 volumes in the series appear to have been published at this time (1 1937, 3 1940 and 5 1938), Vols 4 & 6 are listed as 'In Vorbereitung' (in preparation) in pub.list. Almost certainly George Frey's 1944-dated book-plate was not applied until after the war. This is not I think the same George Frey as the famous French violinist (1890-1975) who never appears to have lived in the UK.
