Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: Good. Oversized hardcover, translated from the Russian, 52 pages, illustrated, NOT ex-library. No ISBN. Age-tanned interior, else little wear. Book is clean with unmarked text, free of inscriptions and stamps, firmly bound. Issued without a dust jacket. -- Arkady Gaidar's The Blue Cup (Russian: Golubaya Chashka) is a classic and highly regarded work of Soviet children's literature, known for its lyrical, philosophical, and deeply personal tone. First published in January 1936 in the Soviet youth magazine Pioner, then issued the same year as a stand-alone book. The story is narrated by a father who is spending a summer in the countryside with his wife, Marusya, and their young daughter, Svetlana. The peaceful family atmosphere is shattered when the father accidentally breaks Marusya's favorite blue cup. The Blue Cup was controversial upon its release. Some hardline Soviet critics attacked it for being "petty-bourgeois" and lacking a clear, heroic, socialist message. They questioned why a prominent Soviet author was writing about a domestic squabble over a teacup during a time of massive industrialization and political struggle (the Great Purge was underway). Gaidar defended his work, and over time, it came to be seen as one of his masterpieces. It is celebrated for its beautiful, lyrical prose, its psychological depth, and its tender depiction of childhood and family love. It demonstrated that Soviet literature could be personal, gentle, and philosophical, not just propagandistic. For many readers, it remains a beloved classic that transcends its political era. David Alexandrovich Dubinsky (ilustrador).…
