Le témoignage d'un membre de cette mission militaire, l'ingénieur Louis Le Maire, est inédit en langue française(il a déjà été traduit en hongrois). Il relate trois années de guerre contre les Impériaux (1705-1708). L'auteur, disciple de Vauban, ne s'intéresse pas seulement aux combats, mais à la vie politique et aux réactions du peuple hongrois.
