The third edition printed of this historical and literary memoir, by Safed-born Rabbi Jacob ben Hayyim Berab (ca 17th-18th century). The work offers a glimpse into life during the First Yeshuv, and the experiences of the Jewish community in the Galilee region of Ottoman-controlled Palestine of the early-mid 18th century. The book specifically relates to Berab's experiences living in and around Tiberias (now Northern Israel) and the historical events that occurred there during the period. The work also includes poetry. The original edition of the work was published in Mantua circa 1744 or 1745. Text throughout includes large initials, is often printed in Rashi script, and is organized in single and multi-column formats. Decorative woodcut border on the title page, and some simple tailpieces throughout. Text throughout in Hebrew and Ladino (Judeo-Spanish). Binding with minor rubbing to extremities.
