Légendes avec nom du relieur, auteur et titre de l'ouvrage concerné. Reliure de l'époque demi-chagrin rouge sang, dos à nerfs orné dans les entre-nerfs d'un lion rugissant doré. Tête dorée, non rogné, couvertures conservées. Première couverture du brochage en partie insolée sur les bords, un coin de la reliure cassé à l'extrémité et les autres légèrement frottés, quelques frottements estompés sur les nerfs. Belle et solide reliure. PREMIÈRE PARTIE UNIQUEMENT. Un deuxième volume de notices uniquement (pas de planches publiées) a été publié concernant les livres illustrés du XVIIIe siècle. Cette première partie contient la description minutieuse de 492 livres illustrés modernes d'exception tant par leurs reliures que par les dessins ajoutés ou les tirages de luxe. On y trouve tous les noms de la reliure d'art de la fin du XIXe siècle (Marius-Michel, Noulhac, Charles Meunier, Petrus Ruban, Carayon, Kieffer, Gruel, Hardy, Chambolle-Duru, etc.). Ce catalogue est d'autant plus important qu'il s'ouvre par un propos par Octave Uzanne intitulé : Livres d'Art Contemporain, Expressions de la Bibliophilie de ce Temps (pp. V à XVI). Par ailleurs, un curieux de l'époque a consciencieusement noté dans la marge au crayon le prix d'adjudication de tous les lots avec le montant total pour cette première partie, qui s'élève à la somme considérable de 267.000 francs or.
