Dust jacket with photo of author on front panel is quite clean, states 17th edition on cover and spine, has one large chip at top left corner of front panel, chipping to spine; publisher's price printed on spine. Enclosed in new archival quality removable mylar cover. This book is quite scarce for one that went into so many printings, and particularly rare in the dust jacket. Contemoprary gift inscription on the title page from one Rev. R. G. Armstrong to "D. D. T. McLaughlin." Armstrong is listed in a directory of the American Home Missionary Society as being a missionary in the Hudson Valley in the year 1840. We could not determine who McLaughlin might be.
