Simpson (1877-1949) was an American shipping and timber magnate and the founder of North Bend, Oregon. Fine, bright copy.

In each section, introductory historical essays survey the large cast of characters who have contributed to the expedition story. The bibliographies for each section list all known publications related to the expedition.
