Soft cover. Condición: Good. 1st Edition. Authentiek of Fanatiek: 25 jaar La Petite Bande was published in 1997 to mark the first twenty-five years of the internationally renowned Belgian period-instrument ensemble La Petite Bande, founded in 1972 by violinist and conductor Sigiswald Kuijken. Rather than presenting a conventional institutional history, the volume brings together personal reflections, essays, recollections and discussions concerning the ensemble and the development of historically informed performance. It explores the sometimes passionate debate surrounding "authenticity" in the performance of early music, the reconstruction and use of historical instruments, and the musical philosophy that shaped La Petite Bande. The contributors include musicians and figures closely connected with the development of the early-music movement. The contents include contributions by Pieter Andriessen, Robert Wangermée, Pierre Bartholomée, Sigiswald Kuijken, Fred J. Lindeman and Barthold Kuijken, among others. The book is illustrated and provides a particularly interesting document of the Belgian and European early-music revival during the final decades of the twentieth century. An appealing specialist publication for collectors and researchers interested in La Petite Bande, Sigiswald Kuijken, historically informed performance, Baroque music, period instruments and the history of the European early-music movement. Book Condition Description Very Good. Original publisher's softcover binding. A clean and well-preserved copy with only light shelf wear and minor rubbing/bumping to the edges and corners, including a small area of wear at the lower corner. Covers remain attractive and the binding appears firm. Interior pages are clean and well preserved, with no significant staining or damage visible. An attractive copy of this uncommon publication. Please see photographs for the exact condition of the copy offered.
