This is the first of a three-volume history by the Danish physician comprising case studies of anatomical anomalies with descriptions and illustrations. This Copenhagen edition is thought to precede another 1654 edition issued in Amsterdam. Both are uncommon. The subsequent volumes of Bartholin's work were issued in 1657 and 1661. Text in Latin. Superb plates, and contents overall very good, with minor toning or soiling to the margins, and, in some cases, a small tide stain. In recent quarter calf, spine titled and ruled in gilt, with marbled boards with corners of vellum. A beautiful copy.
