The artist was born in 1940 in Chur, Switzerland. In 1962, he moved to Zurich, where he studied architecture and industrial design. Acclaimed as a painter for his Surrealist dreamscapes and unique biomechanical style, Giger achieved international fame with his work on Ridley Scott's movie ALIEN. Giger's album covers for Debbie Harry's Koo Koo and Emerson, Lake and Palmer's Brain Salad Surgery were placed among the top one hundred in the history of music in Rolling Stone magazine's survey of music journalists. This book was designed by Giger himself, and features detailed commentaries by the artist on his wide-ranging interests, and on his work from the early 60s up to his current projects; the authentic voice of the master.
