Paperback. Condición: New. Print on Demand. This book examines the origins and development of the belief in the contagious nature of yellow fever. The author presents evidence purporting to show that yellow fever is not a contagious disease, and argues that the belief in its contagiousness has led to several harmful consequences. The author's detailed inquiry into yellow fever's history, symptoms, and prevalence presents a multifaceted challenge to one of medical science's longstanding dogmas, offering insights that could change our approach to yellow fever and other diseases. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…

"There is no chance, nor even possibility, of thus generating anything so wonderful and so immutable as contagion, which, resembling animals and vegetables in the faculty of propagating itself, must, like them, have been the original work of our common Creator. . As well might we revive the for-ever exploded doctrine of equivocal generation" (Essay, p. 109). Rare.…
