Soft cover. Condición: Very Good. No Jacket. 40 pp. with B/W and full-colour illustrations. Catalogue for an exhibition from April 23 to May 19, 1985 At the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery.Light edgewear and shallow 1 inch diagonal crease at lower front corner. The Allrich Gallery stamp on title page. Tucked between pages 10 a…nd 11 are two postcards featuring work by Neda Alhilali, one from the Allrich Gallery, the other from the Bank of America's Plaza Gallery. "Few artists in history, or in contemporary life for that matter, work naturally in the areas of craft and fine art simultaneously. The gap between the fine art and craft realms - which Alhilali ignores - is perpetuated by the artists and craftspeople themselves: they usually place themselves in one area or the other, believing that the two should be different in appearance and purpose. Alhilali reveals, however that masterful art, as in the past, still combines the conceptual assertiveness of fine art with the physical virtuosity of craft. The two cannot be separated in art that expands upon history and moves enthusiastically into the future. 'As the influence of my past becomes clearer,' Alhilali states, 'I am with greater determination involved with the future. My work addresses itself more to the human spirit than to. the art scene. Of course I consider myself fortunate that as a contemporary artist I am at liberty to choose my objective and to combine painting, sculpture, fabric design or any other approach that might appear appropriate.'".
