Hardcover. Condición: Very Good. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Very Good. 1st Edition. This book provides the reader with a series of individual studies of the works of our leading modern writers. The present volume contains studies of American, English, French, Indian, Irish, and Italian writers. Each study is contributed by a literary critic with a real personal interest in the work of his subject, and the aim, on the whole, has been to achieve a positive assessment rather than a mere negative criticism. The result, the publishers believe, will be to refresh the reader's mind and give him a new and deeper insight into the stuff of which contemporary literature is made" The above was presented by the publisher on the front dust-jacket flap. CONTENTS : - ** Ernest Hemingway -by Malcolm Cowley ** Jean-Paul Sartre - by Rayner Heppenstall ** Somerset Maugham - by Louis Marlow ** Mulk Raj Anand -by Jack Lindsay ** Virginia Woolf - by John Lehmann ** Ignazio Silone - by George Woodcock ** W.
