Interior pages are clean and unmarked.Advent cantata for soloists and mixed chorus with keyboard, composed by Richard K. Avery and Donald S. Marsh. In their introduction the authors note the work is written "in a variety of modern styles for soloists and choir" and can be performed by adults, young people, or children in any combination, accompanied by organ, or by piano, flute, oboe, saxophone, bassoon, cello, bass, guitar, and other instruments as doubling or solo parts. The nine sections can be performed individually or together as a complete cantata, suited to Advent or a full Christmas Eve service.Contents: 1. "Something Better Than This" (the complaint of the people, solos and choirs); 2. "Godsend" (the plea, SSATBB); 3. "Says the Lord" (the prophecies from the Scriptures, baritone solo, tenor and soprano solos, SSAATTBB); 4. "Our Man" (the imagined possibilities, SATB fun fugue); 5. "Could It Be Me?" (the question of the women, soprano solo, SSA); 6. "If Only God Would Speak With Us" (the longing, SSATBB); 7. "Maybe God Speaks Through Me" (the surprises, four male and one female solos, unison chorus, John the Baptist and other wilderness voices); 8. "Parents" (the actual fact, soprano and baritone duet); 9. "God Sent" (the recognition of the gift, SSAATBB).
