His precise renderings of Berlin's high society and army officers contributed much to the success of the magazine, whose readership so well matched the subjects of his sketches. In 1908, at the height of his popularity, he bought a lakeside property in Holzhausen am Ammersee, an inspiring spot frequented by many artists at the time. - Several small ink spots and creases.
