The British-Israeli movement is founded on a somewhat dubious theological and historical belief that the inhabitants of Britain are descended from the ten lost tribes of Old Testament Israel. although founded much earlier it flourished in the late nineteenth century and has some adherents today, among members of Pentecostal churches and even the far right. It claims It analyses the Book of Revelation and links its prophecies to the rise of Protestantism. The tone is strongly anti-Roman Catholic and somewhat anti Semitic. In this second edition of a work first published in 1916, the author includes an epilogue on the First World War and attributes the victory of the allies to the hand of God and displays an interest in Turkey (linked with the Seven Churches of Asia) and in the rise of aviation in the First World War. The movement was embraced by the Nazi ideology of Aryan racial purity and elements of the currant far right are still keen on these ideas. A handsomely bound copy of a scarce title that was probably bound for presentation. THEOLOGY/HISTORY BIBLE THEOLOGY- CHRISTIAN 20TH CENTURY ILLUSTRATED FINE BINDING THEOLOGY/HISTORY.
