Atwell's discusses a search for his books (he was apparently out of them), which the recipient and his son were helping with. Atwell then goes on…to say 'While I couldn't place enything I wrote on the same high level as Sinclair Lewis's or Edwin O'Connor's, it's more than kind of you to do so. I still remember the priest's [illegible] in 'The Edge of Sadness' asking him what he'd like for Christmas, and his reply, 'A machine gun'.' Complete with mailing envelope, addressed and with return address in the author's hand.
