Segretario generale del Ministero degli Esteri nel 1859, su nomina di Cavour, fu anche parlamentare e Ministro plenipotenziario in Olanda dal 1862 al 1869 al seguito del Rattazzi, direttore della torinese Biblioteca Reale, presidente della Deputazione di Storia Patria per il Piemonte. Si spense nella cittadina natale, di cui era stato anche sindaco, nel 1909. Restauri al dorso (telato posteriormente), ma bell'esemplare leggermente rifilato.
