Red cloth soiled with some staining; scuffing/fraying at spine ends and board corner tips; ding and small cloth loss at front board's fore-edge margin; rubbing/flaking loss to "A" of author's gilt stamped name on front board but remaining gilt stamping to spine and front board otherwise remains fairly bright. Toning to text block edges. Front free endpaper and half-title (i.e. pages 1-2) are lacking; first leaf present is frontispiece. Several small stains to fore-edge with some leaves affected at margins; shallow bottom fore-edge corner chip to pages 319-320. All seven color plates illustrated by Arthur I.
