Boards normally scuffed at edges and worn/bumped at corners. Head and tail of spine bumped. Vellum lightly toned, a few minor stains and scuffs. Manuscript spine. Front paste-down torn at fore-edge; binding exposed. Sparse old-hand ink marginalia throughout text-block. Small worm hole to pages 109-117. Interior typically toned with light foxing. Binding intact. Please see photos and ask questions, if any, before purchasing. Antonius Matthaeus III (Utrecht, 1635 Leiden, 1710) was a Dutch jurist and publisher of historical sources. He was the third jurist of the same name in the scholarly family Matthaeus. He was friends with collector of antiquities and publisher of old manuscripts Mr. Cornelis van Alkemade. Matthaeus was the first for whom Van Alkemade made a copy of the Rijmkroniek by Klaas Kolijn, which he had purchased (and was only later recognized as a forgery). After his death, this copy was made available by his son Antonius Matthaeus IV, professor in Deventer, to Gerhard Dumbar Sr., who included it in the first part of his Analecta in 1719.
