Offered is an original flyer entitled "A Memorial Day Tribute to 37,000 American Dead Lost in the Vietnam War - May 29th and 30th, 1969 - Rodney Square, Wilmington [Delaware]" published in 1969 by the Wilmington [Delaware] Anti-War Committee. A mimeographed flyer, as issued, printed on one side and measuring 8-1/2" by 13". It begins, reading in small part, "A RENEWED AND URGENT CALL FOR AN END TO THE NEEDLESS KILLING: This Memorial Day we stand an around the clock vigil in Rodney Square to read each name of the painfully long list of Americans who have died in our most unjustified and unpopular war." Following the introductory remarks, the flyer lists, in two columns, four relevant facts about the Vietnam War: column one "THE GOVERNMENT CLAIMS" (i.e. "It is engaged in a search for peace") and column two in response (i.e. "Military activity has been stepped up since the bombing halt of the North, November 1, 1968. There are more U.S. troops today than ever before; more battalion-sized operations; tonnage of bombs has increased each month, even with bombing of the North halted; U.S. deaths have risen drastically"). The lower section of the flyer addresses "WHAT SHOULD THE U.S. DO NOW?" (reading in short part, "We should withdraw unilaterally and immediately") followed by the address of the Wilmington Anti-War Committee. Previously folded once; a few light stains; lightly corner creased.
