Pretty coloured frontispiece, title page vignette. Small print green text for long and involved fairy tale. Spine worn with 10 mm (½") chip to head and tail, corners lightly rubbed, covers slightly dusty looking, diagonal crease to front endpaper and frontispiece, upper stitching to first gathering missing, joints between pages now neatly stuck, contents clean and bright. Paperback edition, miniature book 86 x 75 mm, 3¼ x 3 inches, 15 full page black and white illustrations, 31 pages including title page, bound in publisher's original shiny colour illustrated paper wraps cut flush, the three bears in front of their cottage to upper cover, lower cover red with Goldilocks eating the porridge, title on upper cover and spine. Although the bears are dressed on the upper cover, inside they are not (see images). Lower cover lightly creased, tiny crease to upper corner of upper cover, minute closed tear at top of spine, no inscriptions. A very good clean copy.       SECOND EDITION circa 1920, miniature children's book approximately 79 x 70 mm, 3¼ x 2¾ inches, pale grey boards, extra colour plate of Esmeralda in Turkish costume on upper cover, green and mauve floral endpapers, 31 pages. Attractive coloured frontispiece, line vignette on title, unsigned. Poor little Esmeralda has been stolen to be the slave of a witch. Small childish scribble above Esmeralda on upper cover, frontispiece neatly pasted to reverse of front endpaper, front endpaper slightly damaged at lower corner (see image), no inscriptions, contents clean and bright. Two very tiny scrapes to upper cover, no inscriptions, last letter missing on 7 lines on page 16 due to adhesion to inner edge of page 17 (binding flaw, see image), no loss of legibility. Coloured frontispiece showing 2 elves, title illustration in green line. Little boy finds fairies' house under the cabbage leaves when they steal his ball and clockwork mouse. Spine and edges of boards slightly rubbed with very small loss of surface paper on spine and on lower corner of lower board, ink name stamped on reverse of front endpaper, frontispiece holding only on lower string, page 29 holding only on upper string.       SECOND EDITION circa 1919 (first published circa 1910 by Henry Frowde), miniature children's book approximately 67 x 59 mm, 2½ x 2¼ inches, buff boards, double string knot binding, large colour plate on upper cover of the cat in doublet and hose, pretty green and mauve floral endpapers, 31 pages. Charming coloured frontispiece of a shepherd boy dancing with a shepherdess, vignette to title page, all text printed green. Lower cover lightly stained, minute hole in lower hinge, no inscriptions. A very good plus clean tight copy. The cat becomes court jester and has his simple friends promoted to be Lord and Lady but they get bored and return to their humble life. The cat rises very high at court but is overthrown and he too returns gratefully to the cottage hearth. Lovely coloured frontispiece of a haughty princess and a witch, title page vignette. Small print green text for long involved fairy tale in which a witch gets upset and a princess refuses the suitor chosen for her in favour of a thin young man with a wooden leg. Faintest spotting to upper cover, neat inscription on reverse of frontispiece (no show through), tiny pale stain to 1 lower margin corner. A near Fine copy.       2 works in 1 volume, edition unknown circa 1838 (date at foot of spine), miniature book approximately 70 x 42 mm, 3 x 1¾ inches, LACKING HALF THE DOUBLE PAGE FOLDING HAND COLOURED FRONTISPIECE OF THE RED CROSS KNIGHT, present is the title page with hand coloured vignette: "The Light Guitar". In 2 parts, pages: (2), (9)-146, including 5 page index; (9)-146 including 5 page index, PART II LACKING FOLDING FRONTISPIECE AND TITLE PAGE, bound in full red leather, gilt rules and gilt title to spine, pink endpapers. No music. Tiny chip at tail of spine, 20 mm (¾") crack at foot of lower hinge, leather slightly stained, corners slightly worn, faint inscription and old sums on front endpapers, rear endpapers slightly soiled, fore-edge of title page well thumbed as are many pages, mainly near beginning, light stain to margin of pages 52, 54 and 55, all easily legible, many pages dusty, some very lightly soiled, name in ink in top margin of page 101, another on page 52 of Part II, final page of index in Part II browned. A good set of 2 uncommon titles (frontispiece defective in Part I, frontispiece and title page lacking in Part II). Copac lists a few copies of The Little English Warbler, first published in 1803 in Edinburgh by Oliver & Co.; Welsh, Bibliography of Miniature Books, No. 4443 listing only The Little English Warbler; Bondy, Miniature Books, page 150 listing only The Little Warbler "the best known English collection of songs" published in Edinburgh in 1803.       Circa 1900, approximately 62 x 90 mm, 2½ x 3½ inches, covers in landscape format, contents portrait format, 12 panel concertina folding panorama, each panel with a large coloured illustration and different coloured thumbnail next to the 4 line verse below. Text in German. The sweet pictures show a mother talking to her baby, then as a toddler, schoolgirl, her birthday, at Christmas etc., the last showing the young girl at her Confirmation. In the original publisher's thin cream card wraps, decorated with a green and pink border and 2 young women holding a scroll with the title on upper cover, in the middle of the lower cover is printed in small letters: "Deposé".
