Postcard / Ephemera. Condición: Very Good. No Jacket. First Edition Thus. [EDWARDIAN COMIC NOVELTY / HOLIDAY EPHEMERA / POSTAL HISTORY] Original Edwardian era color lithograph comic postcard titled in the lower margin: "THE IMPS ON THE PROMENADE." Head-bordered at the top with "COPYRIGHT 'IDEAS'" branding. Published as an official promotional novelty card for "Ideas", the incredibly popular turn-of-the-century British penny weekly newspaper. ILLUSTRATION: Features a chaotic, finely detailed crowded scene depicting dozens of bare, pink mischievous cartoon baby "Imps" overrunning a seaside resort promenade. The imps are shown causing comedic mayhem: swarming vintage motor cars, climbing structural pier beams, riding bicycles, causing a horse-drawn wagon accident, and pestering well-dressed Edwardian holidaymakers. POSTAL HISTORY & MANUSCRIPT CONTENT: This specimen is postally used and offers wonderful regional travel context from a Lancashire seaside holiday. The reverse bears a complete handwritten message in dark black fountain ink dated July 13th: "Dear Sister. Got a very welcome post card came duly to hand. Busy you are Harry. Such bad weather hope tomorrow will be fine and then you will return in front for me. Long, Blackpool." It features a crisp, intact green King Edward VII Half-Penny stamp cleanly tied to the cardstock by a bold, circular duplex postmark from ST. HELENS, LANC. dated "9:30 PM / JY 17 / 08" (July 17, 1908). Hand-addressed to a Miss Lily Friar in Thatto Heath, St. Helens. CONDITION: Very Good antique condition. The color print on the front remains remarkably clean, bright, and texturally sound with no surface scuffs, scrapes, or fading. Minimal, completely natural uniform age-toning. The reverse cardstock face is well-preserved; the handwriting is dark, fluid, and perfectly legible. Edges are straight with only minor, standard tip rubbing at the corners from historic album positioning. Completely free of creases, tears, or modern repairs. An exceptionally clean, beautifully postmarked example of Edwardian mass-media print advertising and seaside resort humor. Anonymous Comic Illustrator (Copyright "Ideas") (ilustrador). …
