Unlike the architecture and furniture of the period, most of the ships and boats built between 1650 abnd 1850 have disappeared. Only two of the barges i…llustrated in this book have been preserved, both of them Royal barges and both small enough to be kept out of the water and under cover when not in use. The others - all examples of the great civic barges - are known to us only through models, drawings and descriptions. Blue cloth boards, gilt titles. Colour plates. 45 pages. Rubbing to vertical edge of front board. Boards clean. Endpapers browned. Contents clean. Pictorial dustwrapper is edge-worn with a few closed tears, a few small chips to edges, 2" closed tear to rear panel (no loss), price-label to front flap with price crossed out and pencil price added.
