The exhibition drew on the Long Beach Museum's permanent holdings of 36 Jawlensky works, bequeathed in 1978 by Milton Wichner (attorney for the Los Angeles dealer Galka Scheyer, who championed Jawlensky and founded Die Blaue Vier with Kandinsky, Feininger, and Klee), with additional loans from the Flint Institute of Arts, the National Gallery of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts St. Petersburg, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the University of Iowa Museum of Art, and the Busch-Reisinger Museum at Harvard. Includes a full Catalog of the Exhibition listing all 47 works and a scholarly bibliography.
