Añadir al carritoCondición: Near Fine. Offering this charming original stocking-book edition of "The Courtship, Merry Marriage, and Feast of Cock Robin and Jenny Wren; to Which Is Added the Doleful Death of Cock Robin," a classic tale illustrated by Anne Heyneman, designed by Helen Gentry. New York: Holiday House, 1935, 1st thus. Printed by Will…iam E. Rudges Sons. Red cloth spine with decorative paper-covered boards, and exquisitely detailed line illustrations in b/w and some in red-gold-black. Unpaginated, size 5x3.5 inches. Comes with original holiday gift mailing mini-envelope with a red caterpillery jack-in-the-box illustration on the bottom left and the text "Merry Christmas." Overall condition is Near Fine. The red in the spine cloth has faded a little and there is mild age toning, else the cover boards are clean and sharp, the pages bright and unmarked. The envelope is tanned, the clasp is broken on one side, and the flap is torn (see picture); it has protected the book well. A lovely little copy! Holiday House began in 1935 and was the first publishing house in the US founded with the sole purpose of publishing children's books. Helen Gentry (1897-1988) was one of the founders and a masterful typographer and designer whose artistic craftsmanship and meticulousness revolutionized (and elevated) how children's book were physically made. Anne Heyneman (1909-1968), illustrator and author, collaborated with Gentry on several children's books at Holiday House. Anne Heyneman & Helen Gentry (ilustrador).
