Some rubbing to crown and foot of backstrip, and some corner-wear. Marbled edging faded, some occasional mild soiling to pages (not affecting legibility), and some very mild, very occasional evidence of dampstain to upper margins (not affecting text). First Edition: Marbled paper covered boards, some background wear, edge wear in the form of rubbing, leather spine and corners, banded spine with gilt decoration, gilt title against marooon background, gilt is faded but readable, pleasant marbled endpapers, handwritten inscription neatly written on reverse side of front endpaper, 359 pages, followed by a page of publisher's advertisements, a hint of foxing, closed page edges marbled but darkened with time and use. The condition is sound, clean and generally very good. The author wrote for Blackwoods Magazine, where the story first appeared.
