Añadir al carritoPamphlet. A promotional booklet issued to announce the Character Project and introduce the photographers who participated. Character Project is "an ongoing artistic initiative to celebrate the extraordinary people, from all walks of life, who make this country unique. USA assembled a team of 11 world-class photographers to capture the character of America during the summer of 2008." The subjects included: Renaldi's photos of fishermen in Alaska; Davidson's organic farmers in the Pacific Northwest; summer parades in NYC by Mark; the life of Columbia College students in Chicago by Bey; Eustace's portraits of men and women he found along US 50; musicians of Michigan by Ogden; and beauty queens of Texas by McNatt. Añadir al carritoHardcover. Condición: new. Hardcover. In 1961, the United States' ban on trade and travel to Cuba, followed by a break in diplomatic relations, created a de facto embargo on information about Cuba. In 1999, at the age of twenty-five, Anna Mia Davidson visited Cuba for the first time, determined to capture her personal vision of this isolated Caribbean island nation with her camera. At this time Cuba was just beginning to recover from the "Special Period," the economic crisis that occurred after 1989 when Russia withdrew its financial support after nearly four decades. On further travels during the following eight years, Davidson portrayed daily life in the cities, villages and the country - side in an attempt to depict her sense of Cuba's "soul." Her black-and-white photographs reflect the resilience, ingenuity and spirit of the Cuban people during the embargo against them. It was also here that Davidson came into contact with traditional forms of sustainable farming - a passion that has since influenced her life and work. Having travelled to Cuba many times, it is refreshing to experience Anna Mia Davidson's photographs that show another side of Cuba, rarely seen.
