Soft cover. Condición: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Over-sized (quarto). Bound in photo pictorial stiff card covers. No wear to the covers. The extreme upper fore-edge corner of the front cover appears to be clipped. This feature may be part of the original design, as I can think of no reason why someone would clip the corner. Pages are tight and clean with no marks. No name of the previous owner. No musty odor. No tobacco odor. No water damage. No soiling. No sun fading. The book has a number of extra embellishments, which after almost 60 years have become fugitive. The balloon for instance has deteriorated over time and where it is located the pages are stuck together. The dodecahedron laid in on the title page with some offsetting to the title page. Castle pop-up works. Red accordion is almost in half. Airplane pop-up works. Chelsea girls disc on spring. Sealed pages seals broken. Music record is present but loose from its tab. Folding triple page nose photo fine. Hunt's tomato paste pop-up works. Moisture sensitive tabs missing. We are happy to provide photos and additional information to interested parties. Photographs by Nat Finkelstein, Christopher Cerf. Alan Rinzler, Gerald Harrison, Akhito Shirakawa and particularly David Paul (ilustrador).

"With assistance of Stephen Shore, Paul Morrissey, Ondine, Nico, Christopher Cerf, Alan Rinzler, Gerald Harrison, Akihito Shirakawa and particularly David Paul. Several photographs by Nat Finkelstein. Factory fotos by Billy Name. New York: Random House, 1967. Quarto, First edition, silver card 'tinfoil' wrappers (a few handling creases, front free endpaper beginning to 'unglue' from upper panel, text block shaken), pp. [76], with various movable parts. The book was printed with two variant bindings : a hardcover with lenticular cover and a softcover, of which this is a good, complete example. 'Index may be regarded as both a component of and a reflection on one of the most daring and experimental phases of Warhol's career, running from the May 1965 announcement of his 'retirement' from painting to the February 1968 abandonment of the East 47th Street Factory for offices on Union Square - a period that, as a whole, has also remained surprisingly overlooked within art history . Appearing to reviewers as "an index to all his thoughts", Index encapsulates the full range of Warhol's contemporary endeavours, from the temporarily abandoned silkscreen paintings and sculptures to silver pillows, cow wallpaper, films, video experiments, audiotape projects . photography, fashion, music and the Exploding Plastic Inevitable (EPI), the multimedia spectacle surrounding Velvet Underground concerts.Index presents Warhol simultaneously at his most populist and his most uncompromising, eschewing the camp appropriation of mainstream commercial projects in favor of a remarkably candid foregrounding of homosexuality, transvestism, sadomasochism and illicit drugs' - Branden W. Joseph,White light / white noise, contained inAndy Warhol : From A to B and Back Again, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, 2018, p. 43. Index includes ten inserts or feature pages designed by Warhol with the intent of makingIndexan adult book of childlike wonder. The special features include.

Vintage studio still photograph of Gerard Malanga from the 1966 film. Disregarding formal narrative, the film follows various residents of the Chelsea Hotel in New York City during 1966, presented in a split screen with a single audio track associated with only one side of the screen. The release marked a critical moment in Andy Warhol's career, as it was the first film he directed to receive international success and distribution, or even be screened outside cine-clubs in New York City. Set and shot on location in Chelsea, New York. 8 x 10 inches. Very Good plus.

Vintage poster for the 1967 film. The film originally screened at the Hudson Theater in New York in a 99-minute version. In early 1968, a 110-minute cut played at the Cinematheque 16 in Los Angeles. This poster, which mentions the Los Angeles screenings and contains a blurb from the L.A. Free Press, corresponds to the latter version. A final 95-minute cut was completed later in 1968, and is the version available today. Andy Warhol's first attempt to make a "commercial" sexploitation film, eight unconnected scenes in which actor Tom Baker attempts to convince various women to have sex with him. Originally intended to star The Doors' Jim Morrison and unsimulated sex, the finished film contains neither. 19 x 25 inches, rolled, on archival linen, with minor professional repair and restoration. Near Fine. Murphy, The Black Hole of the Camera. Warholstars.
