Hardcover. Condición: Fine. Estado de la sobrecubierta: Fine. First Edition. The Shinboners: The Complete History of the North Melbourne Football Club - Since 1869. Written by Nick Bowan, Dan Eddy, & Andrew Gigacz. Edited by Geoff Slattery. Foreword by Glenn Archer. Numerous colour and b&w photographs throughout, including many fascinating vintage shots. Includes a list of every player since 1925, club records, team of the century, honour roll, plus bibliography. With club theme song printed to inner front flap of dustjacket. From rear cover (in full): "'North Melbourne's history has been a mix of great struggle, great honour, and, since the 1970s, more than a fair share of glory.' So wrote Nick Bowen in his introduction to The Shinboners. After years of battling bureaucracy, North Melbourne, which had dominated the VFA through the early part of the 20th century, was finally admitted to the Victorian Football League in 1925, along with Footscray and Hawthorn. Those early years in the Big League were tough, and it was not until 1945 that North played its first final, and 1950, its first Grand Final. In 1975 came the first Premiership. Along the club's long history, there have been legends and heroes, on and off the field, as the club fought many down times, and more than occasional threats to merge or to be relocated. This proud and diverse history is wonderfully represented in The Shinboners, a book that blends great stories, great moments and great individuals with wonderful archival photos". Large format volume. Printed in China. Bound in original black boards with bright silver lettering to front board & spine, pictorial endpapers (an illustration titled "North Story" by Jamie Cooper), in publisher's unclipped pictorial dustjacket. A very nice clean tight solid hardcover copy. The dustjacket is now protected in a removable clear mylar cover. 288pp. Large heavy book, extra shipping may be required. Scarce title. RARE.…
