Title printed at the top of the image. Handwriting on front in black ink with a signature. A green, one-cent Benjamin Franklin stamp is tipped in on the back. This postcard shows a portrait of Maxine Elliott (1868-1940), an American actress and businesswoman. She is shown wearing a dress and holding a hat. She appeared in a number of theater productions and movies and is perhaps best-known for her role as Mrs. Copley in the movie, Fighting Odds (1917). Elliott was especially adept at business and investment; at one point, she was the only woman in the United States to own and manage her own theater.
