The second edition of the illustrated collected works of France's greatest playwright by Thierry, Barbin, and Trabouillet. Molière? S sharp and bravura sense of humor, which encompasses the whole scope of human life, earned him the favor of Louis XIV? And the approbation of the Catholic church. This edition reproduces Thierry's 1682 illustrated edition, which was the first to print the text of his Don Juan [engraving included] A play attacking hypocrites which was quickly suspended, requiring him to censor the final lines even in print.
